Everlost-an inspiring novel about a world in between life and death. After being killed in a car crash Allie and Nick wake up in a forest full of life. A boy they meet there, who Allie names Lief (He has forgotten his real name) tells them that they are dead and are living in a world called Everlost. Allie and Nick leave the forest and journey to find Mary Hightower, the Queen of all Afterlights, the people living in Everlost. Mary tells them some of the mysteries of Everlost and gives them books (written by her) to read about Everlost. Nick and Allie learn about how things come into Everlost, are told the reason why they sink into the ground when they try to walk on human roads, and are warned of the Terror of Everlost-The McGill. After numerous disagreements with Mary, and a bit of a scrap with an Afterlight called the Haunter, Allie and Nick find themselves on the ship Sulphur Queen, owned by The McGill.
